Just Keep Swimming

The Birch Aquarium is fairly modest for its home base on fat wallet real estate overlooking the Pacific, an aquatic underdog nestled between this city’s larger, wilder tourist traps: Sea World and the “World-Famous” San Diego Zoo to the south and the SD Zoo Safari Park and Sea LIFE Aquarium to the north. Navigating the entire complex, including relaxation time at the wonderous kelp forest zone takes about three hours, but the memories and experience lasts a lifetime (so dumb). A few personal favorites include the Sea Dragons, moon jellies, the endangered Loggerhead sea turtle, and Infinity Cube, an art and science collaborative installation that demonstrates the visually stimulating nature of bioluminescence.
