In the late 1960s, John Lennon sparked an uproar among conservative white Americans when he infamously boasted that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus–a quote reported to be taken out of context, and alluded to the fact that younger people looked up to the band more than God. Lennon also predicted the future decline of Christianity, which again, pissed off a lot of religious humans. Today, Christianity remains the most practiced religion in the US, and The Beatles are the best-selling artists of all time (of all time), which made the juxtaposition of the artwork in this photo much more amusing to me.
