Grand Central Cafe  [500 W Broadway]

Saw this old-timey sign with a Cheers-like typeface, on the corner of the old YMCA building in Downtown. I walked up the stairs, and opened the door to another time period of aged cups and chairs with Route 66 embroidery. As the name suggests, the cafe has a nostalgic train theme, with memorabilia of mainly San Diego rail life,  and although this is more of a breakfast place, than a coffee house, I have to give kudos to the team here for taking me in when they were closed, and serving me coffee…fo’ free. In all fairness, I did offer them some cash since I figured they forgot to charge me. But nope, the cup and all its refills was on the house.
